his nails are always matte black. it’s not an aesthetic choice, just the nature of the beast, but it feeds into his gothy look very well. they will grow into stiletto-style if left unattended, and longer after that will grow into full-blown bird talons.

he is also entirely blind in his right eye. the colour is still visible, but it’s covered by a milky cataract.

his existence is idiosyncratic; he was summoned some many years ago by a pair of identical twins. when one of them died in an unrelated incident shortly thereafter, the second twin fled - leaving cath perpetually ‘summoned’. however, he is still able to answer the call of the sick and weak, and perform his deathly duties without being summoned. he fears what might happen if the twin were to die, or someone else might try and summon him out of his current contract.
with the help of his sugar daddy fae buddy, they underwent the task of making the twin that summoned him immortal by immoral means. he is no longer in danger of vanishing suddenly, but can still be killed.
his universe is extremely close to that of the dresden files universe. as such, most - if not all - mythological creatures exist in some form or another either on earth or in the nevernever.
he loves deadly flora and has started a collection in an abandoned greenhouse a few houses down.
has real interests too, like taking pictures of derelict shit and collecting useless stuff that might have value one day. he also likes anime and retro video games.
he has zero trust in fae. as a result he is almost never heard saying ‘thank you’, as it is an invitation for fae to strike up a deal or take the words as admitting cath owes them something. he’s not ungrateful when people do something for him, his ‘upbringing’ just does not allow for gratitude to be expressed that way. he also rarely says please for similar reasons.
he’s a little mean-spirited, but he can also suck it up and apologize if he realizes he REALLY hurt someone’s feelings. it doesn’t happen often.
he’s not really a gun for hire as far as the kiss of death goes, but he has killed a few people out of spite and hatred before wayyyy in the past. whoops !
cath hates things that have to do with children, most notably any sort of death involving them. he’s a compassionate angel first and an asshole second - dead kids never sit well with him. as a result he avoids them, has a distaste for conversations about them, and even gets a little snappy if the topic persists. however, he never wishes them any harm and if seen interacting with them he’s actually somewhat soft.
death may fear nothing, but death also fears nothing - cath absolutely hates small spaces, total darkness, and silence. all three will give him an existential crisis. he has a nightlight, a white noise app, and a big bed for these reasons.

cath has a ‘tattoo’ of a strange sigil right above his tail bone. the origins are unknown to him.
his other tattoos include a smattering of black stars and black star outlines on the right side of his back, wrapping around to half his torso, and two constellations on each of his inner thighs - virgo on the left thigh, ophiuchus on the right. the stars are jade green.
conditionally immortal - cath will ‘reset’ and return to the nevernever (and be summonable again) by a few methods. he can be poisoned to death if untreated, he can be shot in the head or heart.
he CAN have the shit beat out of him, within an inch of his life. all means and methods. but he heals very quickly; days as opposed to weeks/months.
